Who Is the EDC?

Economic Development Council of Tillamook County (EDC)

The Economic Development Council of Tillamook County (EDC) was formed in 1996 as a result of an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) between Tillamook County, the cities and ports in Tillamook County, as well as several key organizations with the intent to improve the standard of living in Tillamook County through the development of family wage jobs. The stated purpose of the Council is to form a partnership in all matters related to economic development in Tillamook County.

The EDC is governed by a 10 member board of directors. Eight board members are elected by EDC members. A representative of the Tillamook County Board of Commissioners and the Tillamook Bay Community College President round out the board. Each elected board member serves a three year term and terms are staggered. Elections take place each year and in July of each year the board elects a chair person, vice chairperson and a secretary-treasurer. Anyone who is an EDC member or represents one of the parties to the agreement may be nominated for election to the EDC board.

The EDC partners with a wide variety of groups at local, county, regional and state levels to improve conditions for all citizens of Tillamook County by strengthening the business community which in turn strengthens the economy and improves the quality of life for all Tillamook County citizens.
